day 4 … working backwards / perseverance

reason #4 … so i can be more energetic on stage.

i had a great walk this morning. i plowed through three miles in 52 minutes. my “diet” has been holding up and i’m starting to not miss the junk.

i’m a big fan of stories with reverse chronology. movies like “memento” and “eternal sunshine of the spotless mind” that “start” all messy, but work its way backwards in time until the “happy end” of the story is the “happy beginning,”

so today i’ve applied this thinking to my fitness routine. with every stride i take in this fitness regiment, i believe i’m working off the most recent junk i had eaten and i’m working backwards.

so with every day, with every bead of sweat, with every spinach leaf, i’m working off … last sunday’s “last supper”, that afternoon’s funnel cake … saturday night’s korean buffet and ice cream … friday night’s pizza … if i telescope it, i’d say i’d be working off … all those dinners at guppy tea house … lunch at brazilian buffet … late nights at pink’s hotdogs and pinkberry … wow.

so yeah, i do have a lot of damage to undo, but i think i’m hanging in there, and i’m making progress.

and speaking of hanging in there …

my friend: i am impatient
me: i know how that is
my friend: i need to stop and recognize what is going on
my friend: i know
my friend: i just feel like if i fail now or fall behind it might tend me to be lazy
me: no … i don’t think so … you’re not wired for laziness …
my friend: idk
me: not the way i see you, anyway
me: you just have a few setbacks, is all
my friend: no i am not
my friend: but i dont want setbacks i just wanna get through
me: aaaaah that’s such an impossible thing to ask
my friend: i know
me: you know why they’re there, of course
my friend: but i am asking
my friend: lol
me: hahahaha
my friend: the worst He can say is no right
my friend: or laugh
me: i figured He’d laugh … then give you some comfort
my friend: i hear the God laughs at all the plans we make in life
me: yup, i’m sure He does, just like a parent would find their children’s plans amusing
me: “i wanna be an ocean astronaut!”
me: “i wanna be a spider monkey!”
me: “i wanna be a maid!”
my friend: lol
my friend: ocean astronaut huh
my friend: :-)
my friend: you always make me smile benny
me: yes i do

i wish you all a great day.
